Earrings are a type of jewelry worn on the ear, and their quality provides a wonderful frame for the face by balancing various elements in everyone’s look.

Which types of earrings suit which face shapes? Let's find out.

Even large earrings are relatively small jewelry with many qualities, such as hints of hobbies and small loves or a splash of bold, eye-catching color that attracts attention without being too overwhelming.

Unlike jewelry such as necklaces and rings, earrings are relatively inexpensive, yet their ability to compliment one's appearance is unparalleled and indeed a delightful prospect.

Large and Small Earrings (Background):

Earrings have been worn by both men and women across cultures around the world since the dawn of human history. They were awarded to warriors in Polynesian tribes. In ancient Israel, they indicated social status; in France, they marked people according to the professional guild to which they belonged.

Over the years, people stopped marking themselves by their status and started using earrings as a fashion item.

There are several ways to wear earrings. The most common method involves piercing the earlobe, sometimes with multiple holes. For some people, breaking the body's integrity is a red line that should not be crossed, or they fear the piercing process. Fortunately, some earrings attach to the ear with a tightening mechanism (clip-ons).

How do we know which earring shape suits which look? Which color matches the dress I chose? And what should we be careful about?

Narrow Faces, Wide Earrings:

Each of us is unique. Every woman has her own special body characteristics, which should be considered when choosing clothing and jewelry. By taking into account our body's features, we highlight the flattering parts and soften the less favorable ones through the overall harmony we try to create.

Since I focus on large and long earrings, I will concentrate on the body features that are most important when choosing earrings: the face, neck, and hair.

To simplify the subject, let's first focus on the shape of the face:

For women with elongated faces: Wide or voluminous earrings provide a balance that contributes to harmony and fills the volume at the sides of the face.

For women with wide faces: Long earrings are the choice that contributes to the harmonious balance of the face shape.

Large Earrings with Long Hair:

For women with short hair: Small earrings can add a delicate touch and a hint of color. This color may match the eye color and makeup shades or harmonize with the colors of the rest of the outfit.

For women with long hair: Large, voluminous earrings or long earrings are necessary. Long hair can hide small earrings, and missing out on their visibility and function would be a waste.

Another option for those with long hair is to tie it up, allowing the earrings to be showcased with an elegant and minimalist look.

For women who choose long earrings, it is very important to ensure the earring is appropriate for the length of the neck. Long earrings with a long neck provide a noble and luxurious appearance. Women who do not consider their body's proportions might wear very long earrings with a relatively short neck, which disrupts the harmony and highlights what we tried to conceal.

Large, Long Earrings: If they are metal, they can be quite heavy.

The choices and habits of our lifetime are evident in different parts of the body. For women who have worn heavy earrings for many years, the phenomenon of the earring hole enlarging can occur. The earlobe may lose its youthful, firm appearance and can even tear in two.

Therefore, many women look for solutions for large earrings that are relatively lightweight. Various materials can meet this requirement. For example, my crocheted earrings, custom-tailored in shape and color, provide a solution for these women. There is also the option of occasionally using a clip-on to relieve the earlobe from this issue.

Earrings and Color Matching:

Large earrings can add a real statement with their impressive presence as a frame for the face. In the past, the main colors were gold, silver, or pearl white. Today, an endless variety of colors, shapes, and materials can enhance your look.

Gold and Silver: These are classic colors, compatible with many others, and are a safe and elegant choice.

Monochrome: A monochromatic look conveys cleanliness, modernity, and tranquility. It uses several colors with similar shades.

Complementary Shades: Provide a satisfying feeling to the viewer, conveying sophistication and sharpness accompanied by delicacy.

Breaking the Mold: Bold colors convey rebellion and non-conformity and are a quiet way to declare that I am not afraid to stand out in a crowd and be seen.

Customization:

Customized earrings can be an interesting but expensive solution, matching two different colors—one in each ear—to display playfulness, choosing the perfect length for the neck, or matching the earrings to the rest of the outfit chosen for a special event.

It’s also important to choose the method of attachment to the ear. When you choose custom earrings, every detail matters so that you feel the earrings fit you perfectly like a glove.

I really enjoy working with women who request custom earrings. The dialogue and shared vision create an exciting and enjoyable experience.

Caution When Choosing Large Earrings:

As mentioned, large earrings can change the shape of the earlobe over the years if they are heavy. Furthermore, materials like brass, zinc, nickel, and tin can cause allergic reactions. Therefore, I always use high-quality materials such as gold-filled and silver, which maintain especially low levels of allergens.

And, of course, there's always the option of using clip-ons.

It’s advisable, if you choose to buy large earrings, to ensure they are as light and comfortable as possible so that you feel secure and preserve the integrity of your body over the years.
